Raid Gauloises-2003 will take part in Kyrgyz Mountains on 10-19 of June. Our team (equipped by BASK) will also test its strength in the world’s premier adventure races.
The Raid Gauloises, founded in 1989 by French professional mountain guide Alain Gaimard, is now the most prestigious event in a world of extreme.
This year organizers chose Kyrgyz Republic, while in 2002 it was Peru and next year it is to be Vietnam.
39 mixed teams of 4 raiders with no support crew will be competing in a final round of World Championship. The organizers will invite the teams ranked in the top 27 overall at the end of the X-adventure Raid Series, plus the first three US teams past the post on the stage held in California and 9 "wild cards" are distributed at the organization’s discretion. Much favored is the team that is given the wild card. Our athletes are invited and it’s the first time in Raid Gauloises history when wild card is given to Russians.
Anna Medvedeva, Michael Pershin, Ivan Kononov and Andrew Yatcenko make up Russian team of Raid Gauloises. During all ten days of 1000 km distance they’ll be relying on Russian equipment: BASK tents, BASK sleeping bags and BASK clothing.
