People of BASK
Valeri Babanov
International Master of Sports, Piolet d’Or 2002 winner
Three years by this time I’m a “friend” of BASK company and the gear
that they are manufacturing. During this period I was successful in
organizing four Himalayan expeditions: to Kantega peak (6799 m) in 2000
and Meru Central Peak (Shark’s Fin) (6310 m) in May and September 2001,
and summit to Nuptze East ( 7804 m) in October 2002. There’s no secret
that summits in Himalayas make very high demands of the equipment. And
here BASK guys came to help me. They indeed created and equipped me in
stuff, which helped me to withstand hurricane winds and raging nature,
which could resist extreme conditions of highest altitudes. Thank you,
BASK!
Alexander Odintsov
International Master of Sports, leader of project “Big Walls – Russian Way”
The world of mountains is hostile to the human being. Frost, wind,
avalanches are making staying at the mountains very unpleasant. Only
civilization comforts are able to smooth over these obstacles, first
which is clothing. People making it deserve a monument. If such appears
some day it will be honored of BASK company. Guys, you are leaders!
Valeri Rozov
Parachute sports world champion in sky-surfing – 1999, Parachute
sports World Cup – 2002 winner, author of Russian Extereme Project,
member of expedition “BASK – Great Sail Peak”
We all were in the Baffin Land, Arctic for the first time and didn’t
expected such a cold. We had BASK set of clothing. Without this
equipment it was impossible just to survive there not to mention
climbing somewhere.
Alexander Ruchkin
International Master of Sports, member of expedition “BASK – Great Sail Peak”
For extreme summits you need extreme clothing – warm, durable,
reliable. For a long time we are climbing, rubbing BASK clothing on
rocks and we are still alive. In case you’re not fall in love with
adventures and journeys and only dreaming of them, tested in extreme
summits clothing by BASK awaits you.
Yuri Koshelenko
International Master of Sports, author of “Open Caucasus” project
Alpine climbing is an activity which is out of understanding for
major part of people, however it performs it’s hidden role in the
society. It’s concernment lays in alternative to the natural human
aggression. Dynamism and risk in alpine climbing is a noble antipode to
uncultivated animal consciousness, left in human being. That’s why
alpine climbing needs help and those people who do the climbing and
help alpine climbing, render may be not so obvious, but priceless
service to all mankind.
I am very grateful to BASK company for the fact that they share
aspirations of mountaineers for perform, perform and perform summits.
Grateful for high quality altitude equipment, for their friendly
support and warmth of relationships – THANK YOU!
Tim Akhmedkhanov
Master of Sports, member of summit to Cerro-Torre in February 2002
Summit to Cerro-Torre considered to be super complicated. Hurricane
Patagonia winds, high moisture, low temperature. In 2001 all attempts
of Russian and foreign teams to summit the mountain were failed –
during all season there were only 11 hours of a good weather.
Technically complicated rote and extremely tough weather conditions
demand special requirements to clothing and equipment. It was necessary
to simulate the conditions of an assault, using the experience of quite
a few mountaineers, whose attempts were successful. BASK was
responsible for this task.
The summit was a success. For the first time Russian alpine
climbers were standing on the summit of forbidding Cerro-Torre. We are
bound in many respect our successful summit to the equipment, which was
developed and manufactured by the people, who knew it’s business.
Pavel Shabalin
International Master of Sports, Russian national ice-climbing team trainer
During my long sport life I have sponsored by and extensively used
top branded equipment including being the first to test in battle the
new REEBOK OUTDOOR collection on Chagabang. To be honest I should say
that there is no striking difference between the climbing gear of the
best selling brands. The fabrics and technology are mostly the same.
Nevertheless the concept of the best Russian and foreign gear
manufacturers differs a lot. Since the Soviet time Russian climbers
have been the designers and manufacturers of the equipment. Tents,
backpacks, down gear for the Everest-82 Expedition were designed and
often made by the climbing team members. The main must was function ability, reliability, lightweight.
Modern BASK designs keep to the old traditions – simplicity in
solution, reliability, designed specially for extreme performance. A
lot of modern designs are worked through in collaboration with the
leading Russian climbers, explorers, adventurers and athletes to fit
their personal needs. That makes the designs extremely interesting for
climbing and extreme our door sports development.
Vladimir Chukov
Leader of Tran Antarctic expedition from Russia to Canada through the North Pole (1998)
You need to be a very experienced person to feel confident in the
drifting ices of the Arctic Ocean. You will pay less of a price for
this great experience if you are equipped with the Bask gear. BASK
equipment is designed, manufactured and refined endlessly for those who
dare to pass into the high or low ice bound latitudes. Using BASK
clothing and equipment is a kind of guaranty that the gear will never
let you down.
Nikolay Litau
Captain of sailing yacht “Apostol Andrew”
During the second circumnavigation we achieved 69th parallel which
is a record for the sailing yachts. Sailing in high latitudes in South
Polar Circle region turned out a very serious test for the team.
However, these were the feats we went to the sea for. Each day all our
team had to make the same feat – get themselves out of the warm BASK
sleeping bag, which was the most comfort place on yacht.
