BASK Equipment are testing on the Broad Peak (8,047m)

Broad Peak
Broad Peak

This expedition is not guided in the true sense of the term, but rather consists of a management structure provided by ourselves that facilitates leadership and the provision of safety recourse whilst on the mountain, and ensures the smooth operation of support services and logistics.

The team climbers share equally in the task of formulating strategy and will ultimately work closely together on the peak. The lesser experienced climbers, and particularly those on their first 8000m climb, will benefit from the extra guidance and supervision provided by the four western FTA staff members on this climb. It is usual for these climbers to accompany the team leaders on summit day, while others possess the flexibility to move more quickly and independently high on the mountain.

The expedition management will be supported by a team of BC cooks, support staff, and up to 8 High Altitude Porters (HAP's) on the peak. Approximately 130 Balti porters will carry almost 2 tonnes of equipment to the base-camp in support of the 50 day expedition and support trekkers. The multi-national team has been assembled by FTA Principal Dave Hancock, while FTA guide Anibal Maturano will lead the trip. Ground services are being provided by Adventure Tours Pakistan, our long time partner in the Karakorum.
