Final round of Russian Rafting Championship will take place in the Caucasus (Krasnaya Polyana) on the 17-18th of June. The event is sponsored by company BASK.
As you know, a sport raft is a kind of inflatable vessel with no rigid frame. Its sailors use canoe paddles. According to Championship rules, six athletes should overcome a qualification round, slalom, sprint and, finally, a so called ‘long race’. Competitions will take place in the end of ‘Greece Gorge’, where boisterous water returns to river Mzymta after turbines of a power station.
Four strongest teams that have successfully passed elimination rounds in Altai (Katun river) or the Caucasus (river Belaya) will contend for the championship. ‘BASK-Wave’ team is also participating in the final struggle, which promises to be sharp.
A tight-knit team of six members leaded by the captain Gennadi Ryjov (coach – Nicolas Mikrykov) has been zealously training before this crucial round. The matter is that only a winner of the Championship will be capped for European Championship.
All the winners (not only in a team but also in an individual rating) will be awarded presents from BASK: sleeping bags, backpacks and classic BASK T-shirts.
